Photographer Chantal Regnault spent many years capturing the emergent underground gay ballroom scene in Harlem at the end of the 1980s, from where Voguing emerged. A riot of fashion, image, poly-sexuality and a radical subversion of style, sexuality and race is vividly captured in the hundreds of photographs in this book.
Le terme « Voguing » désigne une danse qui reprend les postures des mannequins du magazine Vogue. C'est aussi un mouvement né dans la scène queer de Harlem dans les années 1990. Pendant plusieurs années, la photographe Chantal Regnault a couru les clubs pour saisir la fureur et le style inimitable de cette communauté qui revendiquait son exception raciale et sexuelle.
